Spanish High-Frequency Word Books
Improve Fluency with Practice
Prepare students for reading success with three sets of Spanish high-frequency word books, which includes the most commonly used Spanish sight words in printed text. Each set targets high-frequency words, including sight words of gradually decreasing frequency. High-Frequency Word Books introduce these common Spanish words in an easy-to-read format with non-high-frequency words shown with a rebus. Repeated use will lead to greater fluency, reading rate, and reader confidence.
Why Use High-Frequency Word Books
Since high-frequency words are essential to fluent reading, repeated exposure is crucial. Students can use their knowledge of phonics and other reading strategies to help them read many of these challenging words. High-frequency word books introduce the most common and most essential words in the early sets and reinforce those words in subsequent sets.
High-Frequency Word Books introduce the most common words in the first sets and support those words in the following sets. The following PDFs provide lists of words for each set and the order in which they are introduced and reviewed:
How to Use High-Frequency Word Books
To effectively memorize high-frequency words, students must read and write them repeatedly.
You can customize students' Reading Room settings to include access to High-Frequency Words books through your Kids A-Z Classroom Roster. Encourage students to repeatedly read the books and use the eBook tools to circle, highlight, or stamp the sight words. They can even record themselves reading aloud and send the recordings to your Kids A-Z In Basket for review.
You can also give students printed copies of the books to read on their own and urge them to write, underline, or circle the sight words on the page. Use the supporting bingo cards, flashcards, and the High-Frequency Word Strategy Bank to further integrate high-frequency words in your reading instruction.
Assess your students' sight word knowledge by using the High Frequency Words Assessments in either electronic or print form.
