The Kids A-Z Reading Room provides a digital library of resources for students to read for fun and practice. Its dynamic homepage makes it easy for students to quickly find relevant,
high-interest content that excites them. Students can also “favorite” books and view popular texts at their reading level based on what other students favorite.
Additional content is organized into categories and presented at each student’s level, meaning students see the resources most relevant to them first.
Customize the Reading Room by selecting which reading levels and content categories students can view. By default, students have access to books three levels below and two levels above their assigned Learning A-Z reading level.
Students also have access to English and Spanish books by default. To customize the Reading Room for your students, follow these steps:
Access your Classroom Roster by selecting Manage Students, and then select Roster.
Select the Raz-Plus or Raz-Kids tab.
Select the individual student, group of students, or the whole class.
Under the Reading Room column, select the Edit icon, and then select Customize.
Use the pop-up window to customize the Reading Room experience for your students.
Select Save & Close to save your settings.
Leveled books in the Reading Room are organized into 20+ topics, including Animals and Insects, Strange and Wacky, Sports, and more!
These topics allow students to select content that most interests them, and the list is updated dynamically based on a student’s favorites,
creating a reading environment that is personalized to each student.
Students can find a full list of topics, based on their reading level, by clicking the Topics icon.
Students are also able to find resources by selecting different categories,
such as Graphic Books, Nonfiction Series, Passages and Packs, and more. You can control which categories students have access to by customizing the Reading Room from your classroom roster.
Students can easily continue from where they left off or reread a recent favorite by accessing books and quizzes in the Recent section.
When students reach the end of a book, they can “favorite” it by selecting the heart icon at the end of the book. The book will then appear in this section, along with any other favorites.
Favorite Topics dynamically populate as students start to favorite books.
The Popular section allows students to find books that other students at their reading level have favorited from around the world!
