Informational Text Graphic Organizers

Organize thinking with a collection of informational text graphic organizers for primary and intermediate students, arranged according to reading strategy and/or the learning process they best facilitate. Refer to the Teacher and Student Resources for instructions.

Instructional Tips

  • Scaffold support: Guide early readers when using graphic organizers and complete them collaboratively. As learners progress, they may benefit from completing the organizers independently.
  • Make connections between old and new information:

    Support students to:

    • Visually sort new information into familiar categories
    • Analyze the relationships between old and new information
    • Think about information in new ways
    • Review concepts and demonstrate understanding
  • Make the use of graphic organizers a habit: Strategically use graphic organizers in whole-class, small-group, or individual instruction.
