Zitkála-Šá, a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, was a writer, musician, speaker, and activist in the early 1900s. Her efforts to gain rights and protect the cultural traditions of Indigenous peoples in the United States made her one of the most influential Indigenous activists of her time.
