My Body
The My Body collection focuses on key organs to build students' knowledge about the features and functions of human body systems that keep them healthy. Each book introduces an engaging character guide that tells important facts about each system in a personal narrative format. Students learn about the main role of each body system and how each system helps them meet their body's needs.
Each book of the My Body collection helps students begin to understand the internal structures that make up their bodies and keep them alive.
Engaging illustrations and nonfiction text features, including diagrams, cutaways, and flowcharts, make potentially abstract concepts and details more concrete.
How to Use My Body
Books in the My Body series can be read independently of each other in any order. However, a suggested order to help build students' understanding of how all of the systems work together might be: My Brain, My Stomach, My Lungs, My Muscles, My Bones, My Skin, and My Heart.
Follow lesson plans for each book to incorporate comprehension skills and strategies.
Check for student understanding with Comprehension Quizzes.
Support the lesson objectives with worksheets.
Promote higher-order thinking with questions from the Discussion Cards.
